Werner Awenius - artist

Werner Awenius is a contemporary artist, gallerist, and art practitioner based in Germany, best known as co-founder (with Natalia Awenius) of A2 Galerie in Potsdam. The gallery serves as a creative platform for emerging and established artists, facilitating intercultural dialogue and contemporary artistic practices.

Over the years, Werner has been involved not only in curatorial and gallery work, but also in artistic creation spanning multiple media. In 2000, he was awarded a prize by fotoMAGAZIN, one of Germany’s leading photography magazines — a distinction that highlights his engagement with photographic practice.

He has participated in joint exhibitions such as “Encounters” (with Natalia Awenius, 2017, Mannheim) and more recently in “Blickwinkel ’25” at Kunstverein KunstHaus Potsdam (2025).
At A2 Galerie, Werner contributes to the conception of exhibition programming, supporting cross-media exchange and artistic experimentation.
