Sergey Nikitin – Artist

Born in 1993 in Moscow, Sergey Nikitin puts forward the idea that form and content interact on equal terms. Constantly altering and transforming a performative approach to painting through the exploration of new methods, he studies the mutual influence of ideas, materials, and internal states. Working in mixed media and employing techniques drawn from art brut and naive art, he consistently reproduces new perceptual states.

“For me, the mood and the process of preparation, my location, and everything happening around the act are of utmost importance. My task is to stay connected to the present moment, without limiting myself with conventions, doubts, or the fear of making mistakes. My works are already formed by inner intention before I even begin painting. I convey an idea through the material, as an impulse that passes through it. This synthesis of experienced intention and the performative act of creation in the now — that is my painting.”

Currently, Sergey Nikitin lives between two countries, working in Moscow and Cyprus. He is a resident of PLATO GALLERY (Prague) and participates in international exhibitions, biennials, and art fairs.
