Postimpressionistic Wind: Elena Kabanikhina
10 May – 31 Dec 2024
Solo exhibition at A2 Galerie
Five paintings, five gestures of presence.
In Postimpressionistic Wind, Elena Kabanikhina opens a space of tactile light, rough edges, and quiet intuition. Her surfaces breathe — oil paint laid thick, scraped, whispered, resolved — in fields of sky, in the weight of air, in a single curve of porcelain shadow.
Kabanikhina works in a postimpressionist lineage shaped by plein air spontaneity and architectural sensibility. A graduate in both geometry and fine arts, she builds her compositions with rigorous freedom: light is not illustrated, it is constructed — with palette knife, with brush, with inner stillness.
Each work is a conversation between texture and memory, between moment and movement. Skies open into grey-blue rhythms, tables flicker with echoes of shape, rural angles dissolve into pigment. There is wind here — and its silence.
